The village dairy in the heart of Prad am Stilfserjoch can look back on over 100 years of history. When it was about to end in autumn 2018, the Upper Venosta Valley Citizens' Cooperative was committed to maintaining it. This is committed to the ecologically and economically sustainable development of the upper Vinschgau and an alpine dairy is an important building block for a rural region.

The preservation of this small regional structure with the high quality jobs and the regional added value are important foundations for the commitment of the Upper Venosta Valley Citizens' Cooperative. Equally important is the associated future prospects for agricultural farms and the preservation of this competence in the region.
With this motivation, in cooperation with the farmers and experts and with the support of the population, who placed their trust in the project and took part in the advance sales, the organic village dairy started in spring 2019.
Knowing that the project was a major challenge, it was clear from the start that high-quality goat milk would be used to produce high-quality organic goat cheese.

Quality, sustainability and cooperation are central values ​​in the work of the organic village dairy.
