The life philosophy of the Gluderer family is to cultivate the farm's own fields according to biological guidelines. In doing so, they make a valuable contribution to health and active environmental protection. They have created a small paradise in which plants, people, beneficial insects and pests grow and live in harmony.

The cultivation of herbs is very labor-intensive: the working year begins in March with the cultivation of young plants, which are planted from April / May. The main working hours are from May to the end of September, many helpers are needed to take care of the fields and harvest the herbs. The fields are chopped through weekly.

Some of the harvesting is done mechanically with a cutting machine, but mostly by hand. Flowers in particular have to be harvested daily, all by hand and some only at dusk. Up to 2011, an average of four people were only in the field for four hours to harvest the flowers. By doubling the acreage for 2012, there is still a lot of extra work.

In addition to the cultivation, wild collections of herbs are made on an area of approx. 6 ha. The majority of all work steps from growing, planting, maintaining, harvesting and refining the herbs to the ready-to-sell product are done by hand.

A four-generation family business.

In 1990 Urban received his small property with an area of 3647 m² from his father. It was a typical apple orchard, conventionally processed, which Urban and his family (wife and three children) should bring additional income / work to his job as a worker educator.

Urban worked in the work training center for mentally ill “organic horticulture” in Latsch, of which he was a co-founder, and got to know how to grow young plants, which was new territory for him. He also learned about organic farming, the guidelines of the individual associations and was so convinced that he also worked on his apple orchard according to organic guidelines.
He was particularly impressed by herbs, their simplicity as plants / flowers and their variety of varieties, scents and healing properties. He created small trial fields on his property and dreamed of his own herb cultivation processing company.
A dream dreamed alone remains a dream forever. Urban turned 40, and faced the decision to make his dream come true or stay true to the job until retirement. The whole family dreamed with him and together they took the courage to make this dream a reality.
