Description:
The wine once again proves the great potential of the Schiava variety. Bright ruby-red in colour, it shows fine fruit aromas as well as vinous flavours. With its light and smooth tannins and a pleasant freshness, this well-balanced wine is uncomplicated and easy-drinking.

Production area:
Selected vineyards on the southeast facing hillside of Breitbach, a part of the town Cortaccia. Chalk, gravel and moraine soils.
Vinification:
The grapes are destemmed and fermented at a constant temperature of 26 - 28° C for about 10 days in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation the must is kept in contact with the skins through circulation pumping. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel.
Food pairing:
A perfect combination to traditional Speck.
Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

The Castelfeder Estate Winery was founded in Egna more than 50 years ago by Alfons Giovanett, but since that time, hardly anything has remained the same. “The product line has been expanded, production has increased, the processes in the winery have been modernized, and the market has become more international,” says Günther Giovanett, who took over the estate from his father Alfons and runs it with his children Ivan and Ines. Today, the Castelfeder Estate Winery encompasses 65 hectares, on which 70 percent is planted with white wine varieties.“The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc,” Giovanett explains. With the red wines, the concentration is on Pinot Noir.
