Terrano 2018 -12% vol. Kante Winery

Description: 
The wine has an impenetrable violet-red colour with bright reflections. Terrano is a traditional wine from the Karst region of Trieste, to which KANTE has added a modern touch to obtain an authentic and noble red wine. Combined with the red soils of the Karst, it offers a rich aroma reminiscent of berries and ripe red fruits. In the mouth it amazes with a pleasant and pronounced freshness that lasts for a very long time. 

Grape variety: 
Terrano - Venezia Giulia IGT. 

Production area: 
The vineyard is located at an average altitude of 250 metres above sea level in the Karst of Trieste, on red soils and limestone rocks characterised by strong drainage. With a planting density of 5,500 vines per hectare, a yield of 1.5 kg per plant and a single Guyot system of cultivation, which for years has been a symbol of the winery's autochthonous research. 

Vinification: 
Maceration for 3 weeks, ageing for 36 months in 25 hl oak barrels, bottling without filtering. 

Food pairing: 
Risotto, cold cuts, pasta alla bolognese, white meats, mature cheeses. 

Serving temperature: 
16 - 18°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 10 years.

750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt. 

Allergens: 
wine can contain sulphites.

A master of such art, it is with continuous experimentation and innovation that creates products distinguished by their freshness and elegance; characteristics that can be uniquely found within the pureness of nature and its authenticity. The red soil is obtained by digging the bottom of the doline and by grinding the rock of the Karst. A land that thanks to the sea breeze and the bora wind, gives a uniqueness to its products which are distinctly characterized by its acidity, minerality, and salinity. My cellar has been constructed on various levels with a depth of 18 meters down the excavated rock. One uniqueness of these cellars is a large wooden door facing the North-East, allowing the Bora to naturally enter the cellars which together with the natural Karst rock, create an optimum temperature and humidity for the wines. 
This makes it an ideal cradle for the selection and aging of the best vintages in bottle.
