Description

Description:
The wine glows a ruby red, its bouquet is varied and reminiscent of berries and cherries. The barrel ageing gives the wine well-integrated, silky soft tannins and the fine frescha adds the elegance typical for this grape variety.

Grape variety:
Pinot Noir - Alto Adige DOC

Production area:
Classic and renowned Mazon wine area, at an altitude of around 500 metres in the southernmost part of South Tyrol. The soil consists of a variety of minerals, limestone sedimentary rocks, siltstones and dolomites. Contributing to the high quality of the wine are, among other things, the considerable temperature fluctuations on the western side of the low mountain range.

Vinification:
Harvested by hand, the grapes are gently destemmed.  Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The young wine is refined and matured in wooden barrels for a year. This is followed by resting in stainless steel tanks during the winter until bottling.

Food pairing:
ideal with main courses of grilled and roasted red meats. Also excellent with game, it is a must try with the blueberry sauce deer: you will be delighted!

Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

Bottle to:
750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

Allergens:
wine can contain sulphites.

Producer:
Kollerhof Winery
Pinot Noir has been grown in Mazzon, a district of Egna, for nearly 150 years. So it is no wonder that the Kollerhof winery in Egna-Mazzon focuses on this classic grape variety. Primarily, but not exclusively. While Pinot Noir is the classic pillar of the Kollerhof Winery in Egna-Mazzon, since 2015 they have been working with a new grape variety, and specifically in the winery’s own vineyards in Anterivo. They planted Solaris there, a variety that is resistant to mildew and peronospora and therefore does not require any treatment. The variety finds its optimal conditions in Anterivo: many hours of sunshine, and a mild to warm wind from the south.
