Description: It is a straw to golden yellow colour. Gewürztraminer is an aromatic and fullbodied white wine, with a light to marked odour and pleasant dry, lightly spicy aromas. Other seasonings such as cloves, roses and Lychees are also evident, thus giving it an unmistakable bouquet. The name supplement "Hautnah" refers to the fermentation of whole grapes, close to the skin (peel).
Grape variety: Gewuerztraminer - South Tyrol Mitterberg IGT.
Production area: Feldthurns in the central Eisack Valley in South Tyrol, on a sunny mountainous slope.
Vinification: 40% maceration for approx. 14 days on the mash, aged for 12 months in the oak barrel.
Matching: Aboveall the Gewürztraminer is a great accompaniment to fish starters, patès, goose liver, shellfish and oriental dishes.
Serving temperature: 11 - 13°C.
Ageing potential: more than 8 years.

Producer: Garlider Organic Winery In Velturno, just above Chiusa, there is Tenuta Garlider with a breathtaking view of the Valle Isarco and the imposing South Tyrolean mountains. Christian Kerschbaumer manages the estate here with his parents, his wife Veronika and their children and grows five excellent white and one red grape varieties on an area of 4 hectares, the only Pinot Noir in the South Tyrolean Isarco Valley. Kerschbaumer's philosophy is to preserve the characteristics of the vine and the soil in the wine and to falsify it as little as possible. For this he has switched to organic cultivation and in his cellar he mainly uses native yeasts. The vineyards are located on favorable and steep slopes on the southern side of the valley. Soil conditions with a mixture of sand, gravel and claite have a beneficial effect on the quality of the grapes.
