This excellent red wine is a symbol of Sangiovese in the Chianti region. The "Flaccianello della Pieve" is a red wine with great character, a fruit of the winery Fontodi, one of the most outstanding and significant wines from the hills of Central Tuscany and one of the first "Supertuscan" obtained exclusively from Sangiovese grapes.

The name Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT indicates one of the most important wine growing areas of Tuscany. The term Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT covers the provinces of Florence, Arezzo, Pistoia, Prato, Siena and was founded in 1995. The wines that bear this name are based mainly on the varieties Sangiovese, Canaiolo nero, Ciliegiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Gamay, Trebbiano Toscano, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Malvasia bianca lunga, Vermentino, Sauvignon and Riesling.
Vinification:
Winemaking involves a first phase of spontaneous fermentation with its own yeasts. The maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for at least 3 weeks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques. The maturation then takes place for 24 months in barriques of Troncais and Allier.

Azienda Agricola Fontodi Bio Fontodi is located in the heart of the famous Chianti Classico area, more precisely in the valley that opens to the south of the village of Panzano called "Conca d'oro". A terroir that has been known for centuries for its vocation to quality viticulture, thanks to the unique combination of altitude, gallant soil, high brightness and a fantastic microclimate, warm, dry and with a wide temperature range. Since 1968 Fontodi belongs to the Manetti family and is dedicated to another typical Chianti activity: the production of the famous terracotta products. In the name of this strong bond with the territory and with a great passion for quality, the company has been working successfully for an ever more careful management of the vineyards and a deeper knowledge of the potential of Sangiovese on the territory of Panzano. Fontodi is a certified organic farm and covers 170 hectares, of which more than 80 are planted with vineyards. Agriculture is inspired by the principles of naturalness and sustainability: not only do we not use synthetic chemicals, we also try to make the most of the company's internal resources by reducing external input. The vineyards are fertilized exclusively with compost, which comes from the combination of cut waste and manure from their own farm. With regard to the environment, we produce more good, cleaner wines with a better expression of the territory.
